Serving the World - Family style

In 2009, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Austria and serve with a missionary team at the Oasis. Within the 2 weeks of serving I knew God was calling me to come back and serve here again with my whole family. So at this moment you are probably asking me what is a calling, what does it look like, what does it feel like... for me God's calling is a feeling... a feeling that I know I have to follow. A feeling that I have no idea how I am going to accomplish, but in that same feeling I have a sense of peace that God is in control.

As I write this post I laugh because though 2 years ago I had this calling, but as for the kids and Rob - they didn't have the same calling, yet. In 2010 God sent me back to Austria with another team and not my family and it was when I came back from that trip that the kids and Rob started to sense their own calling. Their interest and excitement about the Oasis and the work they do was growing everyday. Until one day, as a family, we started to pray for direction and ask the simple but scary question: "Was it our time to go and Serve?"

The answer came back yes, and so now here we are in the midst of planning for our missin trip as a family. As I write our support letters and mail them out to family and friends, I felt like there was more to our story then what I could express in a support letter. I wanted to bring all of you along on our path In Response to the Call.

So as we prepare for our trip, while we are on our trip, and after our trip, we will continue to post on this blog. I am hoping you read our blog for two reasons, the first reason is because we are asking for prayer support.  Through the posts on our blog you will see and hear what our prayer needs are. I also want to use this blog to reach those of you who have had a calling and were to afraid to answer it. I hope you can experience through us the path that God has us on, to see how He loves us so much, how He prepares us for what we need, and that this path maybe scary but that He is in complete control.

God is sending us to Austria to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ to the refugees that we will meet, but my prayer for this blog is that we can also be a Disciple of Jesus Christ to everyone that God has put in our lives. So thank you for joining us on our path to Austria, thank you for praying for us, and please send us your thoughts and comments. We would love to know how the blog has impacted you and how we can pray for you!

Serving Him Faithfully,
Jeni, Rob, Robby and Samantha
